At Fitness to Drive, we believe that cost should not be a barrier to safe mobility and independence. Many individuals and families are surprised to learn that funding assistance may be available for driving evaluations, rehabilitation services, and adaptive driving equipment. In fact, approximately 50% of our clients receive funding for services through a third party source.
Funding for Older Adult Driving Evaluations
Fitness to Drive proudly partners with several organizations that help cover the cost of driving evaluations for older adults.
We currently hold contracts with:
PPACG-AAA (Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments Area Agency on Aging) serving El Paso, Teller, and Park counties
These partnerships allow eligible older adults to access professional driving evaluations that support continued independence, safety, and community mobility.
Funding for Youth and Young Adults
For younger drivers, funding may also be available through programs that support education, employment, and independence. Fitness to Drive has received funding through:
Colorado Medicaid Waiver Case Management organizations like Foothills Gateway, Rocky Mountain Human Services (RMHS), and A&I Avenues
County Health Programs
These resources can help qualified individuals access driving evaluations, training, and related services.
Assistance with Adaptive Driving Equipment
For clients who require hand controls, steering aids, left-foot accelerators, wheelchair loading systems, or other adaptive driving equipment, grant funding may also be available. Support may come from:
Community organizations like The Independence Center
Nonprofit agencies such as Friends of Man and A.V. Hunter Trust
Private foundations like the WIN Foundation
Diagnosis specific organizations such as the MS Society
Because funding sources and eligibility requirements vary, we encourage clients to explore all available options.
